Upon the addition of an inorganic phosphate, the in vitro model was successful in prompting the calcification of healthy vascular smooth muscle cells. Additionally, a potential therapeutic target to inhibiting vascular calcification is Sclerostin supplementation. Sclerostin can accomplish this because it showed the ability to recover a- SM actin activity within the calcification media.
