The GSH-sensitive NPs were successfully prepared and characterized. They were cyto-compatible with alveolar type 1 epithelial cells and were hemo-compatible. They also displayed a GSH-responsive cisplatin release with increasing GSH concentrations. Importantly, these NPs produced a dose-dependent lung cancer cell death. Based on these in vitro characterizations, these nanoparticles could potentially be used for on-demand drug release for enhanced chemotherapy of lung cancer.
