Our decellularization process was successful in removing all native porcine cells and DNA, creating a potentially non-immunogenic root scaffold, and the decellularized valves functioned properly in vitro. The rotator was a good approach for the recellularization and adaptation of the aortic valve, but it will need to be combined with more effective seeding methods and dynamic conditioning in bioreactors to achieve native tissue cell density.
