Crosslinked GelMA hydrogels can be created with different mechanical properties, which are expected to affect cell infiltration and proliferation. Storage modulus increases with GelMA concentration, and 30 s of UV irradiation results in moduli of 162-1075 Pa. Longer crosslinking times is expected to increase storage modulus, but may slow cell infiltration. Once a range of GelMA moduli are established that support cell infiltration, rolled composites will be tested in vivo in a rabbit patellar tendon defect.
