Wave piercing catamaran is a high performance ship in recent years.Compared with the normal ship, this kind of catamaran's lateral stability is high, the deck area is large, the oil consumption is economical and the speed is fast. But with rough sea conditions and high speed, the coupled heave and pitch motion of WPC can easily make coupled oscillation that affects the seaworthiness of the ship. A ride control system is usually designed for the fast catamaran to solve the problem. The ride control system in this paper consists of two T-foils and two trim tabs and a fuzzy logic controller. This work designs an fuzzy logic catamaran motion control system, which can reduce the coupled heave and pitch motion. Numerical simulation results show that the ride control system could obviously improve seakeeping performance of wave piercing catamaran.
