Software Evaluation of Cross-Cut Adhesion Testing

The main goal of the article is to present a semiautomatic evaluation of the cross-cut method of adhesion testing. The adhesion is evaluated for silver layers deposited onto the polymeric substrates. For these purposes, the software for automatic detection of areas which were detached from substrates, was developed. Subsequently these detected areas are classified by ISO 2409 and ASTM D3359. The evaluation software is implemented in Matlab. The evaluation is performed on images of inkjet printed layers. The advantage of this evaluation is that the detached area is determined exactly. The paper analyses the issue of automatic and optimal threshold determination, pre-processing, post processing of the input images and also the calibration of the system as a whole.
