This paper summarizes the content of a cooperation between MTU Aero Engines, GKN Aerospace Engine Systems, and DLR in the context of the EU FP7 project ENOVAL on the aerodynamic and acoustic testing of an integrated LPT and TEC module at the University of Stuttgart high-altitude test facility. The objective was to demonstrate the ability to design and integrate an acoustic liner into the TEC duct walls and achieve a noticeable noise reduction of the LPT component for application to future generations of aircraft engines. Within the paper, the motivation of this activity, the design and manufacturing of the TEC including the acoustic liners, the test setup and instrumentation, as well as preliminary' aerodynamic and acoustic results are being presented.
