This paper presents a proposed model for a photovoltaic (PV) generator in Alternating Transient Program (ATP). The proposed model is based on Transient Analysis of Control Systems (TACS) environment in ATP. The V/I and P/V characteristics of the proposed photovoltaic generator are tested. Then, a proposed model for Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) controller is simulated using the technique of Incremental Conductance (IC). Finally, the potential of using the proposed photovoltaic model in transient (switching) studies is evaluated. The results show that the proposed PV generator model including MPPT controller can be used for steady state and transient studies in ATP.
