By the end of the decade, NASA will begin to push human presence farther into deep space for the benefit of all humankind with the first integrated flight of the Space Launch System (SLS). SLS is the only rocket with the power capable of sending humans to deep space and the large systems necessary for human exploration — to the Moon, Mars and beyond! In conjunction with the Orion crew spacecraft and new launch facilities, humans will journey farther into space than Apollo, all while conducting scientific research that will impact our life here on Earth. This feat can only be accomplished with the support of our various academic, commercial, and international partners. It also requires the next generation of explorers - the Mars generation - to rise up to the challenge and be inspired to pursue greatness in the exploration of our universe. It will be someone in a classroom today that will first step foot on the red planet. We're building the exploration architecture today to set up the future success of deep space human exploration tomorrow.
