A novel phase control circuit for Ka-band phased array receiver is introduced. This phase control circuit is based on DDS-PLL phased source and fourth subharmonic (SH) mixer. In the DDS-PLL source, a phased locked loop (PLL) is excited by the output signal of a direct digital synthesis (DDS), so that the phase of the PLL output signal is controlled by the tunable phase of the DDS output signal. The DDS-PLL phased source is used as local oscillator of the fourth SH mixer. So the phase shift of the millimeter-wave (MMW) signal received by the system can be altered by the DDS-PLL phased source. The experiment results verify good phase shift performance of this MMW phase control circuit.
