Aiming at the problem that the traditional microstrip filter and the metal waveguide filter are difficult to realize narrow band and integration at the same time in the Ka band, a Ka-band orthogonal dumbbell groove substrate integrated waveguide filter is proposed. The non-periodic slotted substrate integrated waveguide filter is fabricated by forming a vertical slotted structure by sequentially opening the longitudinal and lateral dumbbell grooves in the metal layer on the substrate integrated waveguide. The measured results show that the center frequency of the filter is 29.4 GHz, the bandwidth is 1.4 GHz, the maximum insertion loss is 2.5 dB, the in-band return loss is greater than 18 dB, the passband 1.5 GHz external suppression attenuation is greater than 20 dB, and the size is significantly reduced. The measured and simulated results are in good agreement, which shows it has high application value in engineering.
