Speed controller on IFOC-based three-phase Induction motor (IM) drive is needed to optimize transient speed performance. Nevertheless, the control system on the IM is very difficult because of its complexity and nonlinearity. a proportional, integral, and derivative (PID) speed controller with numerical tuning is used in this paper to observe the transient speed performance of IM and validated by real-time control through the real-time workshop (RTW) in MATLAB Simulink then integrated with three-phase voltage source inverter (VSI). The using of RTW is an appropriate, easy, and time-saving tool to implement speed controller on IFOC-based IM drive in real time without taking care of other complex programming languages. Based on the experimental result through RTW, PID speed controller has better performance and does not produce overshoot in this case when compared to open loop response.
