This paper presents a minimum voltage stress modulation technique for a single-phase voltage source inverter (VSI) with AC voltage-reference active power decoupling techniques. The studied single-phase VSI also maintains the advantages of traditional bridge inverter with unipolar sinusoidal pulse-width modulation technique. The power decoupling and minimum voltage stress control techniques are applied to the single-phase VSI, with the advantages of eliminating the large electrolytic capacitor and maximize the DC voltage utilization. Finally, the simulation and experimental results verify the feasibility of the AC voltage-reference active power decoupling and minimum voltage stress modulation techniques.
