An Efficient Metamaterial Radio Wave Absorber for 2.4GHz ISM band

摘要

This paper describes a metamaterial radio wave absorber working at 2.4GHz ISM band. The absorber is designed using circular split ring resonators and wire strips. It is modelled using Ansys HFSS 14 and is fabricated on CMET_LD 2.9 substrate with dielectric constant of 2.9 and loss tangent of 0.002. The selection of this ultra-low loss substrate with lower dielectric constant is to increase the efficiency of the absorber by trapping more electromagnetic energy in to it. The proposed structure is compact and exhibits 84.7% absorption at 2.4GHz band. A dual diode rectenna is employed to demonstrate the power absorbing capability of the proposed metamaterial array.
