Seismic Behavior Analysis of Piers Strengthened with Basalt Fiber Reinforced Polymer

In order to evaluate the seismic behavior of reinforced concrete columns strengthened with basalt fiber reinforced polymer (BFRP), the refined three-dimensional finite element model of reinforced concrete piers strengthened with BFRP is established by ABAQUS. After that, the quasistatic simulation is carried out, and the hysteretic behavior of reinforced concrete piers is analyzed. The results show that the plastic deformation capacity, energy dissipation capacity, ultimate bearing capacity and collapse resistance of the standard reinforcement pier, low reinforcement pier and steel corrosion pier are improved. It can be concluded that the BFRP on reinforced concrete columns can significantly improve the piers' seismic behavior.
