HYBRID POWER SYSTEM OPTIMIZED DESIGN FOR REMOTE BASE STATIONS

摘要

The unexpected pattern of natural resources assesses integrated utilization of these sources to provide persistent and reliable power supply to the consumers. Considering that solar and wind technologies' configurations and their required electrical components are exhibited, this paper discloses the study of a hybrid renewable energy system along with the challenges associated to its modeling and sizing particularly in remote places. The paper investigates thoroughly the hybridization requirements in such areas. A detailed study is carried out to improve a typical existing hybrid solar-wind-DG system already implemented and supplying a base station located in the Chouf region - Lebanon. The system is designed and simulated under HOMER software program, which is used to test its performance technically and financially. Results are evaluated and considered as general outcomes that can be adopted for designing distant hybrid systems.
