Icing disaster about transmission line has affected the safety of power network. At present, weighing method is an important method and technology for on-line icing-monitoring system, which uses the force transducer to monitor the change of pulling force about the insulator string in order to reflect the wire icing status. However, calculation formula of ice thickness used by many companies not only neglects the important parameters of the line icing characteristics, but also gets nothing about some other useful parameter, so the results of the calculation have great errors, and the engineering application is poor. This paper analyzes some error facts about icing-monitoring device, and provides some advices for formula correction and data analysis.
