Submarine Static Stability

This paper complements [Tel07] and discusses basic submarine stability. Areas covered include submarine arrangements, centers of gravity and buoyancy, hydrostatics and volumetrics, the principle of the metacenter, types of stability (including surfaced. submerged, damaged, longitudinal, transitional, and under-ice), stability criteria, and a section on how to calculate stability. The appendix includes typical calculation forms and a discussion of free surface moments and how they are calculated.
