Deep Foundations Case Histories in the East Coast of United States

摘要

The East Coast of the United States is the region that borders the North Atlantic Ocean. The East Coast is the most urbanized region of the United States, which creates numerous challenges in the construction of civil engineering works. These challenges often necessitate the use of deep foundations. This paper presents a discussion on the aspects related to design and construction of deep foundations unique to the East Coast of United States. Challenges such as limited accessibility; maintenance and protection of adjacent structures; and increased risk management are discussed with the aid of demonstrative case histories.
