Nowadays, the instantaneous reactive current detection method is widely used due to its real time characteristic. However, it is difficult for it to realize the individual-phase detection of three-phase unbalanced reactive currents. Therefore, an improved instantaneous reactive current detection method is presented in this paper for arbitrary three-phase loads. In the light of this novel strategy, for the reactive current detection of any phase, the voltage of this phase is set as the synchronous reference. The theoretical analysis and simulation results show that, with the proposed method, the three-phase instantaneous reactive currents of unbalanced loads can be individual-phase detected accurately.
