This paper deals with the accurate and efficient estimation on suction performance of TVC using multi-phase flow computations. To acquire the physically reliable solutions, non-equilibrium phase-changing phenomena are modeled with two distinct models and up-to-date numerical methods. The standard equation of states for real fluids and its SBTL(Spline Based Table Look-up) model are then successfully implemented to satisfy both solution accuracy and computational efficiency. The proposed numerical framework is firstly validated by comparing computed results with experimental data of Moore, Moses and Stein. Computed results on 6 different TVC configurations with and without phase-changing model are then compared. Based on the computed solutions and comparisons, we examine the important flow physics which plays a key role in determining the performance of TVC.
