A sheet beam is simulated using published data of scandia doped dispenser cathode with anti-emission mask structure for a W-band traveling wave tube. The emission properties of the beam are studied with different mask thicknesses, temperatures and anodes. The emission current densities and beam trajectories for these conditions are reported. The required beam cross-section is achieved with an emission current density of ~34 A/cm2with a cathode emission area of 0.35× 0.15 mm2using a microfabricated anode without needing a beam-forming electrode.
