This paper studies the impact of photovoltaic energy injection into the grid. First, a 2 kW photovoltaic emulator based on an inverter and a photovoltaic voltage-current look up table data is presented. The system is connected through a transformer to a medium voltage Tunisian feeder. Grid's real data were used to build a realistic model. Power, current and voltage measurements are presented and the influence of such energy installation on the grid is studied. Second, the impact of a 0.5 MW photovoltaic power injection on the same distributed line voltage is analyzed. Simulation results show in one side that the PV emulator reproduces different V-I curves and provides optimal power owing to the mppt strategy. In the other side, it confirms that the photovoltaic energy injection supports power needs and reduces voltage drop at extreme node. It also improves voltage stability and decreases lines losses in the case of high load level. Finally, it shows that in absence of power compensation, reactive power transit can be significant especially with low load level. This amount can be used for local voltage regulation.
