The experimental results of the Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity (UPV) and the wave interaction in concrete structures is presented. The study was performed using Pundit Lab testing equipment. UPV of concrete was determined on mortar mixtures with a Water-to-Cement (W/C) ratio of 0.4, 0.5 and 0.6 for 150 mm and 100 mm travel path lengths at 54 kHz frequency. Two different measurement types namely direct and indirect method were performed. UPV curves were presented for each test and the result showed that the measurement type and W/C ratios are crucial in monitoring the structural health of concrete. Results also show that there is a proportional relationship between the W/C ratio and UPV, and the increase in W/C ratio results in a corresponding decrease in UPV.
