Aimed at some problems in existing algorithms to extract affine invariant closed regions, including complex calculation and incomplete search, an improved algorithm is proposed based on Point Spread. Using this algorithm, ineffective regions can be removed and affine invariant can be extracted. In the algorithm, after pro-treatment of image, closed regions are generated by binaryzation. Line by line searching and point by point spread is combined after marking points to be removed. The improved algorithm is validated by MATLAB and FPGA. The accuracy increases 5.06% and the time of calculation decreases 32.0%. The result shows that the improved algorithm is adapted widely and improving accuracy than traditional algorithm. It is designed in hardware circuit easily.
