This paper proposed an improved 2-dimensional crest factor reduction (2D-CFR) algorithm for dual-band signal processing, not only considering the instantaneous amplitude difference of dual-band signals, but also setting the peak clipping threshold for the small power signal. This new method can effectively reduce the peak average power ratio (PAPR) and reduce the signal distortion caused by nonlinear amplitude limiting as well. To evaluate the performance of the improved 2D-CFR method, two modulated signals with different signal types which are 100MHz apart in frequency are employed. The simulation result demonstrates that the improved 2D-CFR algorithm reduces the average error vector magnitude (EVM) of the dual-band signal effectively from 6.680% to 3.936% compared to the conventional 2D-CFR.
