A validation study was conducted to study the performance on detection of underground void underneath pedestrian walkway by the use of ground penetrating radar (GPR). The experiment was carried out on a footpath which locates adjacent to the lateral support of a deep excavation works. 3 number of GPR scans were carried out, 7 nos. and 5 nos. of suspected voids and water leakage points from drain were detected. These suspects were verified on-site by open up the pavement.
