The paper presents a software method that can be used to shorten the delivery time of the result of measurements displayed by thermometers with high response time. The method is based on the response time of a thermometer and on the calculation of the time constant under the specific measurement conditions. The estimation of the environmental temperature is made at each time step, to overcome the measurement errors that appear especially during the first seconds when high temperature changes occur. The experimental results of applying the method show its simplicity, its advantages and its limits.
