A Practical Evaluation Method of Building Penetration Loss at 3.5GHz for IMT Application

With the rapid development of International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT), the demands of required bandwidths is increasing. In order to avoid the interference between different systems and to make full use of frequency spectrum resources, an enhancing requirement of channel measurement accuracy is attracting more and more people's attention. Building Penetration Loss (BPL) makes a great contribution to accurate propagation measurement. To investigate the building materials penetration impacts on channel bandwidth, we provide a practical evaluation method of BPL based on measurement and simulation. Through this evaluation method, some initial BPL measurements in the band 3.4GHz-3.6GHz have been made in one typical urban building and the detailed results is given. Simulation results based on ray-tracing method is carried out to verify the measurement and to make a supplementary analysis.
