The spoof surface plasmon polaritons (SSPPs) waveguide, as a kind of slow wave structure, can support surface waves whose phase constant is larger than phase constant of waves propagating in free space. By periodically modulating the SSPPs in a simple way, we excite spatial harmonic waves for wide-angle scan. Moreover, theoretical analysis of radiation direction of spatial harmonic waves and simulated radiation patterns are compared. The similarity proves the correctness of the simple method to design leaky wave antennas based on SSPPs.
