The instantaneous interface approach is a highly sensitive probe to characterize trends in functional group enrichment, migration, and orientation that would be hard to obtain through imaging, diffraction or spectroscopy. For stereoregular PMMA, the distribution of chemical group ratios, as a function of distance from the 'true interface' provided insight into chain conformational effects on interaction with polar media. A hypothetical polymer designed for guided wettability and/or adhesion would benefit from mining these tacticity effects with mechanistic feedback from the instantaneous approach.
