Over the past decade, process managers have been forced increasinglyto cope with the lack of a skilled workforce and increases in hazardouscircumstances for human operations. Erection simulation systems havebeen widely proposed as alternatives to overcome these difficulties andto raise erection quality, enhance productivity, and improve safety.With the deterioration in the technical ability of process managerswithout enough erection simulation training and information to achievelow interference and saving time, the marine erection accidents in yardsuch as fatality, collision due to interference tend to increase graduallyin erection process of ships and offshore platform. It may beconsiderably difficult to establish the methodology for a safety andaccurate measures system for erection process. In this paper, todemonstrate the efficiency of an erection simulation system, introducea point cloud based erection simulation method for planning erectionprocess in offshore installations. This simulation method produces anoptimized movement path of workforce and without interference forerection structures. As a practical example, the cost-benefit analysis forpreventing erection process time and the background risk isinvestigated using the proposed method.
