Nowadays, the study on floating offshore wind turbines (FOWTs) hasbeen performed globally. Dozens of numerical simulation tools havebeen developed for designing FOWTs and simulating theirperformances in combined current, wave and wind environments. Onthe other hand, model tests are still required to verify the numericalsimulation tools. To study motion characteristics of the OC4 semisubmersibletype floater, a model was built with a 1/80 scale ratio. Themodel test was carried out in various sea states, including rotating rotoreffect with wind in the Ocean Engineering Wide Tank of the Universityof Ulsan (UOU). The model test results were compared with thenumerical simulation by UOU+FAST+OrcaFlex.
