The trend to convert carbonaceous fuels to cleaner energy carrier, such as hydrogen, has gained an intensive attention following the rise of environmental awareness and energy security concern. In addition, coal has the largest reserve in the world and its energy utilization has gained a significant increase, especially in power generation, through many available conversion technologies including combustion, gasification, and pyrolysis. A great concern on intensive CO_2 emission during coal utilization has led to the urgency for developing and applying CO_2 capture technology. Moreover, the conversion of coal to hydrogen is considered to be very potential due to the advantageous characteristics of hydrogen including cleanliness, wide application and high efficiency [1].
