It is well known that the performance of wireless communication are quite sensitive to channel conditions and the transfer data rates are declining as the distance between the communicating peers is increased. In this paper are presented a set of results from a performance evaluation study of wireless communication based on the IEEE 802.11ac standard. The measurements were made between a pair of wireless access points interconnected in the bridge mode, located in close proximity, to provide the maximum performance. We have studied the performances of IEEE 802.11ac communication relative to Ethernet cable connections through traffic measurements, observing the necessary bandwidth and the packets response time for different sizes of packages generated over network. An important issue that was pursued was that the results to be valid and not influenced by hardware limitations. Therefore the processors load was continuously monitored, for both wireless devices and test computers.
