This paper proposes a new low voltage ride through (LVRT) strategy by utilizing extra resistance and inductance. Once voltage sag and low power demand occur simultaneously, the distributed generator (DG) is connected to low voltage (LV) grid through extra resistance and inductance. The active and reactive current injections are exploited to compensate voltage sag. Furthermore, the complication in the conventional method, caused by inserting inductance to feeder, can be avoided because the proposed LVRT strategy does not involve in utility assets. According to the simulation results, the voltage sag compensation of the proposed LVRT strategy is more effective than the conventional strategy which applies only inductance. This results in DG connected to LV grid longer.
