Torque enhancement in a single-drive bearingless motor with V-shaped winding

摘要

This paper presents torque enhancement in a single-drive bearingless motor. The bearingless motor has a novel combined winding of a V-shape to generate rotational torque and active axial force. In previous machine, only the Lorentz force torque is generated. On the other hand, in this paper, both the Lorentz force torque and the Maxwell force torque are generated by improving the V-shaped winding structure. These torques are calculated in 3D-FEM analysis. It is found that the proposed winding structure is effective to enhance the torque.
