With crisis of traditional energy and deterioration of environment pollution, exploiting wind energy resource is of great significance in improving energy structure, especially the offshore wind energy resource. Compared with generators are usually used for offshore wind turbine, brushless doubly fed generator (BDFG) is a kind of novel and potential generator and has several obvious advantages. The objective of this paper is to design a 20/16 pole combination BDFG which aimed for using in a 10MW offshore wind turbine based on design principle of BDFG. Based on the finite element analysis (FEA), the Maxwll-2D model of the designed BDFG was established, the electromagnetic property of no-load operation and load operation was simulated and analyzed. The simulation results prove the rationally and feasibility of the designed BDFG.
