摘要

The incompressible steady three-dimensional flow in a twosidedanti-symmetrically lid-driven cavity and the motion of afinite-size spherical particle is investigated. The flow field iscalculated numerically using a fully spectral code allowing toidentify regions of chaotic and regular streamlines. The motionof a finite-size particle which is density-matched to the fluid iscalculated approximating its motion by advection in the bulkand by inelastic collisions near the boundaries. The limit cyclefound for the particle motion is confirmed by experiments usingsimilar parameters. The results demonstrate the general importanceof particle–boundary interactions for the creation of particleaccumulation structures which can exists in a whole classof incompressible steady three-dimensional flows.
