The effect of conductor diameter upon the thickness of icing

Due to the recent situation in the neighbouring countries, where icing damaged many transmission and distribution power lines and caused financial losses, it is necessary to operate weather stations. Last icing events caught the overhead power line operators unprepared because they occurred in locations where the design did not expect any icing. The contribution summarizes the knowledge on the effect of wire diameter upon the thickness of icing on overhead transmission lines.
