As projects move into the future, owners and project managers are realizing the benefits of integrating subsurface investigation into the beginning of the project. By developing best practices and incorporating standards such as ASCE SUE Guidelines, projects and agencies reduce the risk of damaging utilities, causing a disruption to service, and causing delays to construction schedule. The Texas Department of Transportation has put together a list of 16 best practices for utility investigation.
