This paper proposes an approach for accessing optical switching performance designed for signal processing purposes through one continuous short MMI coupler in a nonlinear regime. The Switching operations are studied in lengths of less thanlOOitm. In solving the set of coupled mode nonlinear propagation equations for multimode waveguide, as well as the possibility of measured electric field at output waveguides on different input electric fields and MMI lengths, the central waveguide length is optimized to obtain a smaller length of possible switching. Therefore, two input electric fields are presented, where the MMI coupler operates each state of switching when launched with either one. Finally two states of switching performance are simulated, and switching states appear on each output. The results show very low cross-talk and insertion loss.
