This paper demonstrates a three-stage hybrid-distributed amplifier based on Darlington configuration to achieve high gain and over several octaves of bandwidth for microwave and millimeter-wave frequency applications. The Darlington single-stage distributed amplifier (DSSDA) is used as traveling wave gain stages to improve the gain performance of the conventional distributed amplifier. This configuration achieves 14卤1dB small signal flat gain from 1 to 40 GHz and output power at 1-dB gain compression is 19卤1 dBm over the desired band.
