This paper presents a phase-shift extraction and wavefront reconstruction method for two-step-only phase-shifting digital holography. Unlike previous methods for phase-shift extraction that requires at least two holograms plus object and/or reference wave intensities, the proposed method can retrieve the unknown phase-shift solely using two holograms without the need of recording object or reference wave intensity. It is thus simpler and faster than the previous methods. Using the proposed method, the complex object wave field can be retrieved with unknown and arbitrary phase shift. GPU parallel processing is also proposed to accelerate the computationally intensive estimation and reconstruction operations.
