Introduction: Guided bone regeneration (GBR) as an effective technology in biomedical field, is widely used in oral medicine in which the most important part is to develop a refined bioactive membrane. The main purpose of the reach was to design a novel collagen membrane with the properties of optimization and antibacterial activity for GBR. Materials and Methods: The method with the treatments of freezing-thawing, lyophilization and pressure-loading was utilized to prepare the fish collagen GBR membrane (FCGM). The membrane was characterized by Attenuated Total Reflection Flourier Transformed Infrared Spectroscopy, Scanning Electron Microscope and wrapping angle analysis, tested by experiment of degradation and mechanics. Results and Discussion: The ATR-FTIR results showed the membrane was composed by type Ⅰcollagen. SEM results indicated the FCGM had two-layer structure containing a dense layer and a loose layer. And the FCGM ensured the high tensile strength and elasticity modulus, which could reach 89.218±1.984 Mpa and 1344.26±11.07 Mpa after 5 circle freezing-thawing treatment. The synthesized FCGM showed excellent degradation and bioactivity (with the was 41 79nM/m). Conclusions: The fish collagen membrane for Guided Bone Regeneration (FCGM) was prepared with the collagen extracted from the waste fish scale. The series of results demonstrated the synthesized FCGM could be utilized as a GBR material.
