In this paper, a new fault diagnosis method, which treats magnetic components voltages as diagnostic criteria, is proposed for input-series-output-parallel (ISOP) modular dc-dc converters. Since diagnostic criteria can be easily measured by adding an auxiliary winding into each magnetic core, additional sensors are needless. Based on the diagnostic criteria features, a low-cost logical hardware circuit is designed, and faults can be detected within one switching period. The structure of the ISOP modular system and corresponding control method will be first introduced. Then fault diagnosis principle and implementation are given in detail. The simulation is used to verify the proposed method.
