This paper addresses interoperability issues between many home IoT devices by proposing and analyzing a novel architecture able to support interworking between LAN smart home devices and a global IoT/M2M standards based IoT service layer platform, and satisfy the requirements for many home domain interworking scenarios. The architecture introduces an interworking proxy entity (IPE) that can convert subordinated IoT data into standardized format data conforming to the format of other standardized IoT entities. The architecture with IPE can enable home IoT users to use and control various home smart devices using different protocols via a standardized IoT/M2M application. Implementations provide an evidence that a proper interworking technique is necessary in order to provide smart IoT services to home users.
