Modern vehicles are characterized by the massive incorporation of all types of sensors. However, sensor usage is often limited to the vehicle itself or at most a few basic applications on VANET. A good sensor system is a prerequisite for a successful integration of intelligence functions in vehicles and thus helps ITS to best reduce the monopoly of the human operator on transport systems. In this paper, we propose to model an Intelligent Vehicular Sensor Network (IVSN) from four types of awareness: spatial awareness, data awareness, group awareness and context awareness. This intelligence is fully exploited in developing the proposed Sensing as a Service (S2aaS) model for Internet of Vehicles. This model transforms raw data from vehicle sensors to real knowledge which cannot be produced if such data were processed individually. Roles and interaction description between different S2aaS actors/entities is given to understanding the proposed model. Sensing resource discovery, ranking and selection techniques adapted for IoV are also integrated in this model. In the end, performance evaluation of the proposed pull request to obtain data from specific sensors is given.
