CDN Accelerate Research based on MEC for UHD Video Service

Migrate to network edge has become the evolution trend of CDN future architecture. Meanwhile, MEC provides a perfect enabling environment for edge deployment and coscheduling of CDN nodes, which will bring some new changes for CDN service quality and mode. Recently, China Telecom Co. have carried out technology research of CDN accelerate scheme based on MEC under the commercial network in Hangzhou. The performance improvement of the CDN accelerate based on MEC for the UHD video service, as a representative of new emerging ICT service, has been studied. The results of this study showed that, the proposed accelerate scheme can improve the perception quality of UHD video live/on-demand services significantly, especially reduce service latency and stall. Meanwhile, CDN edge deployment based on MEC enables operators to transform business model from resource rendering to providing integrated ICT edge services.
