The short article reviews the state-of-the-art of multi-axis toolpath planning, especially for polymer extrusion. The existing approaches for geometry-based and performance-based toolpath planning are emphasized and highlighted. The future perspectives of continuous fiber-reinforced composites are addressed to overcome the research gaps as well as improve the performance of products induced by polymer extrusion.
